Goodbye dull skin. Hello summer glow! (Moisture, Hydration and Healing)

Summer is almost here, and with it brings the joy of sunshine, beach days, and outdoor activities. While we may be excited about all the fun summer has to offer, it’s important to remember that the change in weather can also have a significant impact on our skin. With the rise in temperature and humidity, our skin’s needs change, making it essential to understand what our skin truly needs during this season.

Hydration vs Moisture

Hydration refers to the water present in your body. It is crucial for maintaining healthy skin. It helps flush out toxins, regulate body temperature, and keep your organs functioning properly.

During the hot summer months, your body loses water through perspiration, making it even more important to stay hydrated. Dehydration can cause several skin issues such as dryness, itchiness, and dullness. It can also lead to premature ageing and breakouts. It’s crucial to drink plenty of water and enjoy some hydrating delicious fruits and veggies throughout the day to replenish the lost fluids and keep our skin hydrated.

While hydration focuses on the inside of our body, moisture refers to the external layer of our skin. It is the outermost layer of our skin that acts as a barrier, protecting us from environmental factors such as sun exposure, pollution, and harsh weather conditions.

Excessive summer heat and humidity can cause our skin to produce more oil, leading to clogged pores and breakouts. This is where moisture comes in. Our skin needs a balance of hydration and moisture to maintain its healthy state. Moisturizing helps to lock in the hydration and prevent water loss, keeping our skin soft, smooth, and supple.

When it comes to choosing a moisturizer for summer, it’s essential to opt for a lightweight, non-comedogenic formula that won’t clog pores or feel heavy on the skin. Our beautiful Refining Lotus Gel Crème delivers the perfect balance of lightweight hydration and gentle exfoliation for glowing summer skin.

Regular exfoliation helps remove dead skin cells, allowing your skin to breathe and absorb other products better. Use a gentle exfoliant like our Facial Polish to sloth away buildup and reveal smooth radiant summer skin.

When you feel hot and sweaty you may be tempted to wash your face more often.  Skip the abrasive washes that strip your skin and compromise your skin barrier. Opt for a gentle cleanser like our Creme Cleanser and wash your face knowing you are nourishing it as you do so.

Now that you are out and about, your skin is exposed to lots of irritants, heat and UV light. At the end of the day, be sure to thoroughly remove your sunblock and any makeup with the soothing blue tansy and healing lotus in our Lotus Cleansing Balm. Help your skin recover from sun damage and gently fade hyperpigmentation with the cult favorite Saffron Serum. And repair your skin while you sleep with the restorative Moonseed Treatment to relieve redness and wake up ready to enjoy another day in the sun.
