I am so beyond excited to share "Claim Your Crown." When start Ranavat, I knew that it was more than skin deep. I wanted to create something that accurately represented my values but also created a community around empowerment.
Growing up in a small town in Wisconsin, I felt left out, different and a desire to hide my Indian culture. Different is good- but somehow I just didn't have to confidence to OWN what made me unique and and so I lived a life of conformity.
Over the years, I grew more and more comfortable with sharing my culture. I would invite colleagues and friends to my dance performances and even share my mom's recipes. After having kids, it just became so clear to me how important it is to be proud of who I am. Just recently, I found myself diving deep into the culture of Indian Beauty and was fascinated by these tinctures, ancient formulations and incredible craftsmanship. This time I knew I had to do it differently-- instead of keeping it a secret, I finally felt confident enough to SHARE. And the best part of it? People LOVE that I'm sharing! To me- that was my defining Claim Your Crown" moment- where I felt empowered to share these ancient Indian traditions.
Now that you have heard my CYC Moment- it's about hearing from YOU. We're profiling some incredible men and women in the community that have faced adversity and turned their experience into empowerment.
And Finally- we're tying this all together with a pledge to donate 2% of all Ranavat Botanics proceeds to Ignite Hope Chicago, a non-profit organization that identifies a beneficiary that embodies our "Claim Your Crown" ethos. This year we are working with Rescue Foundation a grass-roots non-profit NGO that working for rescue, rehabilitation and repatriation of victims for human trafficking from different parts of India, Nepal & Bangladesh and sold for forced prostitution. Rescue Foundation works to ensure that women's human rights are respected, protected, and fulfilled.
Finally, CYC isn't just a temporary focus- its woven into the fabric of who Ranavat is and is a core part of who we are. CYC ties into the "why" for how Ranavat was born, my personal story and now the stories of those in our community and elsewhere. I am so honored you are here and are a part of this movement.
